Expedition Support Service

Roger Wallis operates an international charter service with the fully equipped 75' steel hulled motor yacht 'AUSTRALIS'.

'AUSTRALIS' is set up for luxury cruising and is fully equipped to support expeditions, film crews, photographers, mountaineers, skiers, snowboarders, artists, bird watchers, divers and adventurers of all types. She is also perfect for more laid-back sailing cruises. In addition to all the luxuries of a well appointed cruising vessel she has large storage areas for equipment and a workshop. She carries 9 passengers and the crew.

WHERE AND WHEN

Most years see Roger operating in the southern polar regions over the southern summer, and at other times he'll be found anywhere between South Pacific, Patagonia, the Chilean Channels, and South Georgia Island.

Roger is also open to suggestion for trips to other parts of the world !!

HOW MUCH

Our rates are variable depending on destination eg. Antarctica & South Georgia Island AUD $ 3,248 per day (to charter the entire vessel), and the glacial regions of the Chilean Channels, Patagonia, Beagle Canal & Cape Horn AUD $ 2,555 per day. This includes food, fuel and port fees. Most trips have a minimum duration, check the destination pages for details.

Itinerary

Check out the itinery page for details on upcoming trips.

Bookings for 2008/09.

Atlantic ocean Passages.

'Australis' will be doing some serious sea legs in 2008.

Atlantic Ocean passages are perfect for those in need of 'Sea time' for the purpose of qualifications...or or those who want to experience a long ocean passage where they are one of the crew & share in all aspects of running the yacht.

Keeping Antarctica Pristine.

'Australis' has just become the first & only Australian yacht to become a full member of the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) where the key is to follow a responsible environmental policy. All those visiting Antarctica will be advised of minimum impact practices & minimum approach distances to wildlife.

Underwater Ice Photography

During the past Antarctic season was working on an Underwater Ice Photography project aimed at producing a series of limited run Fine Art prints.
I only have one image in the gallery so far but this is the entrée of what is to come when I have a show of my own later this year.
If you are around Sydney & have the time, drop into the Underwater Australia gallery in Surry Hills, where the work is a part of the permanent collection.

Ben.
